Contractor supports community projects across South Ribble with over £5,000 in funding
R P Tyson Construction Ltd, Principal Contractor to the Leyland Town Deal Quin Street Housing project have created the Quin Street Community Fund of over £5,000 to support community organisations
As part of South Ribble Borough Council’s commitment to ensuring that all major development projects deliver value for the borough and its communities over and above the agreed work plan, this is a requirement of the contract with the company.
Six recipients were chosen by R P Tyson Construction after submitting project proposals and have used the cash injection to support facilities and assets which are used regularly by the community across South Ribble. Those funded are:
- Farington Scouts, who have procured arts and crafts materials
- Gregson Lane Community Centre who has bought a new oven to support vulnerable groups in the area
- Dementia Action Connection, who have created a new website to support our dementia friendly community
- Higher Walton Bowling Club, who are repairing edges to their bowling green, removing old broken elements
- Vernon Carus Sports Club, who have received donations of new fencing for spectator areas
- Longton Brickcroft, who have received new display equipment for the nature reserve
- Warm packs (including hats, scarves and gloves) have also been provided by the fund to support vulnerable groups across the borough
Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, Leader of South Ribble Borough Council said, “The Leyland Town Deal is a once in a generation project and we want to make sure that alongside creating wonderful new town centre spaces and a refurbished market, our wider community can also be supported.
“We’re committed to make sure that all our large developments ‘give back’, whether that be through using the local supply chain, creating jobs and skills opportunities or directly supporting the community through funding.
“I am so pleased that Tyson Construction are as committed as we are to giving back and I have no doubt that the Quin Street Community Fund will support many people to access community services and facilities.”
