Contracts have now been awarded for Leyland's Town Deal, allowing work to begin on all three of the main projects - Town Centre improvements, Leyland Market regeneration and the BASE2 business hub.
The contract awards are:
Architect Services: Wilson Mason LLP
Structural and drainage: Woolgar Hunter Ltd
Landscape and public realm design: Lanpro Services Ltd
Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing: Steven A Hunt & Associates
The first work to start will be the scheme design and there will be a public consultation so that residents' views and ideas can be considered before the schemes are finalised.
Councillor Paul Foster, Leyland Town Deal Vice Chair, said: "It is great to see work starting on this fantastic project that will bring a new vision for Leyland to life - helping to develop a revitalised leisure, retail and hospitality offering with opportunities for enterprise to thrive and residents to gain skills."
The schemes are part of Leyland's Town Deal which saw Leyland awarded up to £25 million by the Government's Town Fund earlier this year following a funding bid submission in October 2020 by Leyland Town Board.
The bid was developed by following consultation with local residents and businesses. Leyland Town Board is made up of local and regional businesses and stakeholders including Lancashire Enterprise Partnership, Maple Grove Developments, Stonecreate, Job Centre Plus, UCLAN and Runshaw college, supported by South Ribble Borough Council.
